Introducing our very first box! Hello Florence!!

YAAAAY!  We’re so thrilled to be sharing the first ever “vacation in a box” with all of you, just in time for these last few weeks of Summer.  As we gushed about recently, Italy won our hearts early and often, and Florence was one of the last international stamps we got in our passports before travel was suspended.

While we could never encapsulate the full beauty of the Ponte Vecchio bridge or the way gelato melts in your mouth, we wanted to try and give you a first-hand experience of the culture, people, and food that make Florence such a magical place.  What's on the itinerary you say?  Well, glad you asked!

Get in the mood

We’ve included a special gift to help start things off right for your “stay-vacation,” as well as a curated Spotify playlist so you can fill your living room with the sounds of Italy. Then take a “stroll” through Florence with a virtual tour of some of our favorite stops.

Cooking Class with Pat

One of the best ways to learn about a place is through the food!  Learn the key ingredients of Florentine cooking and how to cook like an “Italian mamma” with the help of Chef Patrizia Steccato.  Pat will show you how to prepare a 3-course meal using fresh, simple ingredients and the olive oil and Pomodoro Pelati tomatoes that are included in your box. Join one of the live Zoom classes to cook together with Pat or use the recipe cards and recorded video to watch on your own schedule. Either way, you’ll end up with an incredible and authentic Florentine feast!

Watercolor workshop with Betty

Florence is known for being the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, and even if you never step inside a museum, you’ll find yourself mesmerized by the gorgeous architecture and art that’s woven throughout the city. One of those stunning sights is il Duomo, the world’s largest dome that tops the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Artist Betty Ritschel, who offers a popular Florence watercolor and walking tour, always has a stop here. Inside your box, you’ll find everything you need for the class – a 12-color travel paint set, 2 water brush pens, and a postcard pad of watercolor paper. Together, you’ll paint the Duomo together and Betty will share an introduction to the wonderful world of watercolor. You do not need to be able to draw (stick figures are a struggle) or paint, and you will quickly create a beautiful and one-of-a kind memento of Florence!

Snacks & more goodies!

We also wanted to include some of our favorite snacks and other goodies to bring a taste of Italy to your table. We spent over a month sampling through pastas, cookies, chocolates, and olive oils (tough job for sure 😊) from all over Italy to make sure we’re bringing you the best of the best!

We hope you’ll join us on this in-home getaway to Florence!! If you have any questions or a favorite place in Florence, let us know below!

Xoxo
